You’re invited to Cultivate, a vocational retreat for creative followers of Jesus. That fancy word vocation comes from the Latin “to call.” In light of this, we’ll be taking three days & two nights to:

  • Sharpen our sense of creative calling

  • Cast vision & set goals for our crafts

  • Cultivate expectancy for the Holy Spirit’s abiding & empowerment

In addition to sessions and workshops, the weekend will also simply offer a gift of time.

You’ll have plenty of space to enjoy the warmth & beauty of Barnabas Landing, and to connect with like-minded creatives from a range of disciplines.

COST

$300 per person / $250 early bird. This includes everything: accommodation, boat travel and food.

If money is a barrier, we may be able to help subsidize your cost! Let us know when you register so we can discuss options.

DATES

  • Departure: morning of Friday, January 12

  • Return: evening of Sunday, January 14

ACCOMMODATION

Spacious shared rooms (2-4 people) at Barnabas Landing on Keats Island, with options for couples & roommates upon registration.

FAQ

Who can come?

The retreat is open to anyone who considers themselves a creative, artist or maker. Writers, musicians, painters, photographers, leaders, actors, engineers, lawyers, moms, dads… this means you!

Am I qualified?

Qualified, shmalified. We encourage folks at all stages of their creative journeys to join. We all have imposter syndrome!

Will I be expected to produce work?

Nah. Though there’ll be plenty of free time, this retreat is not primarily a time to create (though we’d never stop you).

Can I invite a friend?

By all means! Space is limited to 18, with slots booked on a first come, first served basis.

Cultivate is a creative collective of Jesus-followers based in Vancouver, B.C. We’re an informal but intentional community of writers, musicians, actors, editors, painters & photographers all seeking to become more like Jesus. We gather monthly and on occasional retreats like this one. We’d love for you to join us!

Important Notes

  • All attendees are responsible for reading and agreeing to the Retreat Waiver, available here.

  • Payment is refundable up to 3 weeks before the retreat (midnight on December 21, 2023). If you need to cancel after that, we will do our best to fill your spot and issue a full refund, however we won’t be able to promise that.
